Somebody once said to me -
'childhood is like a loaded gun...'
I didn't quite understand that
at that time ...
But I know now.
At age six I lost the reality but gained a dream. And ever since then I have subconsciously dragged myself back into that time. The time that has had the greatest significance in my life. Full of adventure, love and pain. Since then I started to live in a dream, where I imagined things, but knew they were never gonna happen, and even knowing that - I never wanted to escape from it.
This body of work where I have photographed Katrina – my brother's daughter, brings me back to those mysterious dream places in my mind. She is at that age where she is wearing my clothes I wore when I was 6 or 7. Katrina triggers my mind in some beautifully strange way. And my journey with her is like a direct connection to my past and myself.
